When I first started making instrumental music, out of the gate I produced a number of totally or partially winter-themed albums ("Sibir," "Cold Front," "Landscape of North Iceland," “Wrangel Island,” "Near North"), to the point that I got "known" for that, to the extent that I was known at all.

I soon branched out into other, sunnier and also darker themes, but for this release I decided to return to the theme of winter, this time in a more intimate and personal way; when I started making ambient music, I didn't even live in a northern setting. Now that I do and have actually experienced -40 C, I feel better prepared to think of winter as a companion.

So here’s some icy-sounding music for you.

The primary sound sources on this recording are guitar, mellotron and a bit of voice.
